This is the role that most often satisfies these requirements.

What We’re Looking For:

At Devine Hydraulics, Inc. (DHI), we are looking for an individual for the position of Parts Counter Associate. This is a key role in the company and, as such, the individual selected will be a highly skilled, adaptive and customer responsive professional. A key responsibility will be inputting and checking information on the computer and verifying the computer inventory by physically checking parts in the parts storage bins. The ability to communicate clearly with customers and co-worker is paramount. Growth to a supervisory or management role is part of the career path if desired.

Responsibilities in Detail:

  • Ability to receive customers, establish rapport, and determine and attend to customers’ needs
  • Ability to match customers’ needs with appropriate parts or services
  • Knowledge of pumps, hoses, valves and motors is ideal, but a heavy equipment, industrial or automotive background is a great start
  • Knowledge of and ability to monitor inventory in order to determine which parts require special ordering
  • Knowledge of parts counter procedures, such as requiring prepayment for special orders, etc.
  • Ability to search part numbers or to use the computer and standard catalogs
  • Ability to monitor bins and determine which parts need reordering
  • Ability to accurately track parts
  • Ability to assist the management in analyzing and resolving discrepancies between computer inventory and actual parts on hand
  • Knowledge of procedures for ordering special parts or parts with no published part numbers
  • Ability to identify and acknowledge the receipt of warranty (used) parts
  • Has the ability to use inventory information on a computer screen and can locate parts by checking parts numbers and locating them in the bins
  • Must communicate clearly in person and on the phone and must be willing to initiate calls to customers to give and receive information
  • Must be alert to sales opportunities by taking the time to ask customers questions and provide information about parts and services

Requirements:

  • Detail-oriented, conscientious and punctual
  • Desire to solve problems with a natural curiosity
  • Proven ability to work with Windows-based computer systems and applications, specifically Outlook and Excel, as well as ERP systems, ideally QuickBooks for Manufacturing
  • Good at math with analytical abilities
  • Physical stamina and strength to lift heavy (up to 50lbs) items
  • 3+ years of experience working a parts counter within a mechanical field
  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of vocational training or an apprenticeship will be an asset
