About Us

When you demand top performance and maximum uptime of your hydraulic-powered systems, you need a service partner that is experienced and capable. One that has know-how, capacity and capability. One that can take anything into their facility, or service anything in the field – indoors or outdoors. That’s simply Devine.

The right partner can modify, enhance and calibrate hydraulic systems. Build custom hydraulic power units (HPUs). They have, on-hand, the required replacement parts and components. And, where the necessary component has been made obsolete or is with unreasonable lead times, your service partner must be able to fabricate them. That’s simply Devine.

Being able to count on your service provider should be why you keep them – because you’ve learned you can rely on them. They answer the phone, respond to emails and return calls. They meet deadlines and stand behind their work with an Ironclad Warranty. That’s simply Devine.

A world-class hydraulics service partner should be able to be able to design, review and recommend. Because you aren’t an ‘off the rack’ type of organization, neither should your service provider. Devine Hydraulics is a single source that has processes in place to customize the services you require.

The real differentiator at DHI is Founder and President, Brian Devine.

Brian started his working life as a tool and cutter grinder in Connecticut for Electric Boat in Groton, then moved to Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford. This period, which he spent in the research and development department, added greatly to his knowledge of mechanical engineering.

The 1980’s began with a move to the west coast, taking employment with Rupes Hydraulics in San Marcos, California, as a machinist. There, he specialized in the close tolerance work required in pumps and motors. He was promoted to the role of General Manager and acquired three years of experience in the service sector of mobile hydraulics.

With an entrepreneurial spirit, Brian moved back to Connecticut and with limited funds and unlimited energy, founded Devine Hydraulics, Inc., The focus was, and remains, the service and repair of all and any hydraulic equipment. DHI’s focus was originally in the southeast Connecticut, but quickly expanded from there as the demand for precision craftsmanship continued to increase.

A steady expansion of the business through reputation and hard work required a move to larger premises and the Oakdale facility was purchased in 1988. The workforce steadily grew and customers now included Electric Boat and Pratt & Whitney, his former employers, as well as the Navy dockyard and the Submarine base.

2005 continued a growth path for DHI. Alongside a local machining company, DHI acquired the assets of Advance Motion Control (AMC) and established it as a separate division. Utilizing the same company ethos and fervor, AMC was directed wholly toward the design and building of hydraulic power units and systems. This division of the company has expanded to the point where larger premises were, again, required.

With the growth of AMC, 2008 saw the addition of key personnel to steer DHI through its next phase of expansion. The plan included more standalone divisions of the company dedicated separately to distribution of fluid power products in New England, importation of fluid power products for warehousing and national distribution, hydraulic system design and engineering facilities, subcontract machining, product design and manufacture.

The new staff applied their skills in marketing, designing and integrating fluid power products throughout New England and augmenting the core business of service and repair, DHI continued to flourish. Moving into larger premises in 2014, our current 56,000sf facility, assured the continuity of the expansion plan and allowed more world class manufacturers to assign AMC/DHI official status as distributors for the State of Connecticut.

Today, Devine Hydraulics, Inc. is the largest hydraulic services company in New England and, through controlled growth, still lives up to the commitment started by Brian Devine back in 1983: the complete and professional satisfaction of every customer, regardless of size.
